February Nail Art Challenge Day 5: Valentine's Day Nails!

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do between some different things I was coming up with, so I did different things on both hands! This was very time consuming, but I'm happy with it. I free handed everything so it's a little sloppy, but I tried hard lol.

I used pointed q-tips and toothpicks to do this. I love this blue! I used an untried Julep "Donna", untried Julep "Eva", and Essie "Muchi Muchi". Happy Valentine"s Day!!

February Nail Art Challenge Day 4: Inspired By A Pattern!

Here we are on day 4! I chose my pattern from something I saw on Pinterest which led me to this blog: http://www.spektorsnails.com/2012/09/leopard-skittle-nails-tiny-tutorial.html. This is her mini tutorial:

So my pattern is leopard print! But I did the bright Skittles colors!

I love these! The colors and leopard prints together are so fun together! It sure was tricky, especially doing my right hand since I'm right-handed and my left hand has a mind of its own. All in all this is one of my favorites. :)

February Nail Art Challenge Day 3 - Glitter Loaded!

I love this one because I loooove glitter! I'm using another untried, my new Butter London polish I just got! This is Butter London "Wallis" and Orly "Bubbly Bombshell":

Love these colors together! Butter London goes on so smooth and Orly's glitter polish is gorgeous! I loved how simple this day was lol.

February Nail Art Challenge Day 2: Half Moon Nails

Time for Erica's Nails and More February Nail Art Challenge day 2 entry! This is my first time doing a half moon design (besides the other day when I did my toes) so work with me here lol. I used 2 new colors I just got this week! This is Julep "Gloria" with Julep "Petra":

I like these colors together! The orange is so creamy and the sparkly dark red is beautiful! I'll have to play around with half moons in the future to get it down because as you can see I had trouble removing the polish from my cuticles, but all in all I'm happy with this. :)

Practicing the Half Moon

The next entry for Erica's February nail art challenge is the half moon look and I've never done that on my nails before, so I tried it out tonight on my toes. It took a few tries, correcting many mistakes as I went, but I like how it turned out!

I used Nina Ultra Pro "Punki Pink" and Essie "Smokin Hot". I tried painting the pink on first, waiting for it to dry, and then putting a french tip strip tape above the bottom of the toenail to paint the dark grey, but of course the tape peeled off the pink polish. Instead I used a small square tip brush, dipped it in polish remover, and swept the pink on the bottom off in the half moon shape so the nail was clean, then I painted the dark grey in the shape. That worked really well for me! I love these colors together, but I think I'll do 2 other ones for my finger nails for the challenge. I'm supposed to get a bunch of Julep polishes and other brands in the mail this week that I want to use. :)

February Nail Art Challenge!

It's that time!! Erica's Nails and More February Nail Art Challenge! I've been looking forward to this and I'm going to have so much fun with this! The first day is Galaxy Nails. I'm one who likes to go against the grain, so instead of doing the typical black background with a starry look, I did our solar system!

Left to right: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Night sky with sparkles for stars. I contemplated doing Pluto on my other thumb since I grew up with Pluto being a planet, but I figured since it technically isn't one now I'd just leave it out lol. Let me show a close up for all the details!

If I had a better camera you would see the details more, but I swirled together yellow, light orange, and a red/orange to make a swirling fiery sun.

I promise I won't post so many pictures every time, I just did a lot of details on this one that I wanted to point out. :)

Ok, so here are the polishes I used:

For the black background: Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant "Black Diamond"

For the sparkle stars: Essie Luxeffects "Pure Pearlfection"

I mixed some of the colors with white to create a lighter color. The white is Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant "Snow Storm"

Blue planets: NYC In A New York Minute "Pier 17" and the white polish above.

Mercury: Essie "Smokin Hot" mixed with the white above.

Venus: Finger Paints "Iconic Orange" mixed with Nina Ultra Pro "Call The Coppers".

Green continents in Earth: Finger Paints F02151 (it's a teal green)

Mars: Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle "Divine Wine" mixed with China Glaze "Sun Worshiper".

Jupiter: Essie "Smokin Hot" mixed with white, and then stripes of Finger Paints "Iconic Orange" and China Glaze "Celtic Sun" for the details.

Saturn: China Glaze "Celtic Sun" mixed with the white, and then Essie "Smokin Hot" and China Glaze "Sun Worshiper" for the rings.

That's pretty much it. I wanted to start of the first day of the challenge with a bang and go all out! Looking forward to the other days!
