Red, Black, White, and Dots!

Gosh I'm behind! I took my kids to see my family over the weekend and before that I did my fingers and toes. Totally forgot to post them. I was walking down the nail polish aisle in Walmart last week and saw a beauty I couldn't pass up. I was looking for black and white nail polish because I desperately needed to throw away my old ones and upgrade, but I added this red/purple in there as well.

Ok, I need to ask everyone to bare with me. I still need to get that small brush that helps you clean up the polish around the nail and skin to make it look more professional, so I'm sorry my nails haven't been too perfect. Ok, anyways, this is Sally Hansen Diamond Strength "Save The Date". It's a beautiful deep red/purple with a little sparkle.

With my white and black polish I did a little random set up on my toes and added that red/purple. Here's what I came up with:

I used Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant "Black Diamond" and Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant "Snow Storm" for the black and white. I like how the dotted tips turned out. Now I'm getting ready to participate in that nail art challenge I mentioned in my previous post! It starts Friday if anyone is interested!

Participating in My First Nail Art Challenge

I wanted to share a blog I'm following that has frequent nail art challenges. I was introduced to it by my friend Danette and I'm going to join the next challenge, the February challenge! It's by Erica's Nails and More and I'm going to share what I do for it here! If you want to participate go follow her blog and share your creations! :)

French Tip with some shimmer

I did a french manicure on my friend the other day and she really liked it, so I thought I'd do it on my nails.

I love how soft it turned out. I used Essie "Muchi, Muchi" with Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect "Fog" tips. Then I put Essie "Pure Pearlfection" on top for a subtle shimmer. Nice, classy look. :)

Stripes inspired by Pinterest

It sure is hard to keep up with my nails when my 2 year old is running wild creating disasters in the house, and my 5 month old is attached to me. So this look took me all day because I'd have to stop after every nail haha. Hey when my kids need me, my kids need me. I'm very happy with this one though!

(Please excuse my super dry skin. Forgot lotion...)

I used Nina Ultra Pro "Punki Purple". It's such a pretty pink/purple color, and it dries almost like a matte polish.

I cut thin strips of tape and lined them on each nail, and then painted over that. I didn't let it completely dry before I peeled the tape strips off, and I do it that way so the tape doesn't rip up the polish that is supposed to stay on the nail if it's dry. It worked great!

I let the color completely dry before putting a top coat on or else the color "bleeds" messing up the lines. I put Essie "Pure Pearlfection" on top for a little shimmer, and then a clear top coat from Orly to add extra shine and protection.

This design was inspired by this blog I found on Pinterest:

Pretty Purple!

I haven't worn purple in a while so I thought I'd do a purple theme on my fingers AND toes!

The base coat is L'Oreal "Butterfly Kisses", the sparkly stripe is Orly "Bubbly Bombshell", and the black is Pure Ice "Black Rage". I used a square tip brush to do the tips and the stripe.

Then I did my fingers in a purple with a matte top coat. This is Pure Ice "No Means No" with NYC "Matte Me Crazy" top coat.

I need to do purple more. I forgot how pretty it is! I do, however, need a new purple polish. The one I used was probably a few years old and pretty thick. Haha. Essie is my favorite polish so far, so I'm going to look at some of their purple shades. Yay for nail polish shopping! :)

Sunny Gradient

I chose to do a gradient with Finger Paints "Pink Perspective", China Glaze "Sun Worshiper", and China Glaze "Celtic Sun".

I'm so happy with the way it turned out! I'm still practicing gradients, but this is my best yet! I used a makeup sponge and painted 3 stripes of those colors, then I dabbed the sponge on my nail until it looked how I liked. I did another coat of dabbing the 3 stripes once all my nails were painted, and then finished with an Orly clear topcoat. Definitely doing this again for summer!

Hello, nail polish world!

I should have done this a long time ago. I love doing nails and I love to write, so I'm joining the blog world to share my favorite hobby. I'm Kelsey, 23 years old, and married with 2 beautiful, exhausting kids. :) In my free time I like to try different colors and designs on my nails, and I hope to one day work in a salon and then own one! I love doing hair and makeup too, so I can't wait until I can be in a salon. Just have to find time to go to school... :-P

I look forward to getting to know other bloggers with the same interests and I hope everyone enjoys my blog! Please check out the link to my other page at the bottom that has past designs I've done with my nails and let me know what you think! Thanks! :)
